Meet Coach Jay Jamerson

We are excited to add another super athletic and smart member to the team that will provide V02/ RMR testing and personal training. Jay is one of those people that dots all i's and crosses all t's. His engineer mind is very similar to Lee's...we should all be a little scared (in the best ways, of course). Read more below.

Where are you originally from?

I am originally from a very small town: Fulton, Mississippi. Well, technically, I grew up 20 miles outside of that very small town. I'm from the Boonies, as we'd say back home.

What brought you to enduraLAB?

When I found EnduraLAB, it was more of a rediscovery. I had dropped in for some classes several years prior, but due to a back injury while packing/moving, I was out of commission for nearly two years. Long story short, my Physical Therapist recommended I find a quality personal trainer to continue strengthening the core with precise, intentional movements. I knew Lee and Isis were THAT meticulous, so they were my clear first choice! Lo and behold, I've been with the LAB consistently for nearly a year and a half and have never felt better - even deadlifted over 300 lbs recently! The gym mantra, "Focus on the process, not the outcome," resonates deeply for me.

What do you expect to bring to the table?

I want to implement lessons learned from my road to recovery and teach/coach flawless technique and adapting/modifying movements so that any athlete can feel they got the same awesome workout.

What do you love about the LAB?

The Community is by far the best part of the LAB! Everyone is so welcoming and makes you feel right at home. Honorable mention to how impeccably clean and organized the gym and equipment is, though.

What are your fitness goals?

Oh, there's a bunch... I'm really working on my strict pull-up game right now and want to hit 100x in 5 rounds or less.  I'd like to get back to a sub-6 minute mile and build up my endurance more.

What are you currently reading?

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. Aside from that, I'm always reading scientific publications like the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics. *Nerd Alert*

What song is really pumping you up right now?

Anything dark, moody, sexy, and groovy: "Koto (VIP Mix)" by Odesza, and "Keep Moving" by BRONSON. My staple is Five Finger Death Punch's rendition of "Bad Company." That one never gets old.

What is your favorite show/movie?

I'm more into playing games than watching TV, so God of War: Ragnarok takes care of my downtime.

What are two things on your bucket list?

Summit the multi-pitch climb on El Potrero, Mexico; Design and build a tiny house.

Is there anything else you want the LAB community to know about you?

I'm a bit of definitely a coffee snob - ask me if you need a spot to check out! Also, I'm a proud dog dad to Hank, a 4-year old Aussie, who contributes daily to my wardrobe by adding all his loose hair - I promise my clothes are clean!
