When Sara Riley walked through the doors at enduraLAB, she wasn’t looking for a quick fix. She was looking for something real — something that would challenge her, support her, and help her reconnect with the athlete she knew was still in there. And more than anything, she was looking for a place to put in the work. Not for a few weeks. For the long haul.
Her story is about effort. About showing up, even when it’s hard. And about how incredible that kind of consistency can look — and feel — over time.
From Weightlifting to Rebuilding: The Comeback We All Needed to Hear
Back in 2012, Sara found her groove with CrossFit, then dove headfirst into Olympic Weightlifting. She loved it. Competed. Built strength and confidence. But life shifted. Grad school, travel, and eventually the pandemic pulled her off course. Movement stopped being a priority. Old habits crept in. And suddenly, she didn’t recognize the person in the mirror.
So she did something about it.
With support from her doctor, some big mindset shifts, and a decision to stop waiting for the “perfect” time, Sara took action. She’s dropped 125 pounds so far — and she’s quick to note that it didn’t happen overnight. It took effort. It took time. And it took a place like enduraLAB to support the process.

Why She Came to enduraLAB
Sara didn’t want to go back to the way things were. She wanted to move forward with intention — building strength, finding joy in movement again, and most of all, reconnecting with a supportive fitness community.
“I wanted a place where I could be challenged without feeling like I had to be the person I was a decade ago. I was looking for balance. Joy. People who get it.”
She found it here.

What Training Looks Like Now: A Rhythm, Not a Race
If you think the long game is boring, think again. Sara is in a groove, and her training reflects that. She’s back on the Olympic Weightlifting platform this August. Then she’s tackling a HYROX event in November. After that? She’s lacing up for the Cowtown Half Marathon in February. And she’s not stopping there.
“I used to be laser-focused on one goal. Now, I’m open to all of it. I want to be a hybrid athlete. Strong. Enduring. Adaptable. Whatever adds energy to my life, I’m in.”
That’s the beauty of long-term training. It evolves with you.

Redefining Progress and Letting Go of the Old Metrics
One of the biggest challenges Sara has faced this year? Not the workouts. Not the races. But the mindset.
“Coming back to lifting brought up a lot of comparison. I wanted to be where I was in 2015. But I’ve had to let that go. I’m not the same lifter, and that’s actually something to celebrate.”
She’s traded chasing numbers for chasing consistency. And it’s paying off. Since joining enduraLAB, she’s dropped 30 pounds while putting on 8 pounds of muscle. Not because she’s pushing for perfection — but because she’s been showing up again and again.
What Makes It Work: A Sleep Schedule and a Strong Support System
Sara’s a self-proclaimed “sleep queen,” and she’s not wrong. She’s tracked her recovery since 2020 and follows a consistent routine that sets her up for success. But what really fuels her progress?
The people.
“The community here is next level. I know that when I walk in the door, I’m going to be supported, seen, and encouraged — no matter what my goals are. That’s rare, and that’s what makes me want to keep going.”

What She’d Tell Someone on Day One
Starting is hard. Being consistent is harder. But worth it? Always.
“You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to start. This community will meet you where you are and help you move forward, step by step.”
Her Year in One Word?
Effort.
Or in Sara’s words: “Sparkle. Straight up sparkle.”
Because effort shines. And at enduraLAB, effort looks good on you.
The Takeaway:
Real change takes time. It takes reps. It takes showing up for yourself — not just for six weeks, but again and again. Sara is proof that effort compounds, and that the long game is always worth playing.
