If you’ve been around the LAB lately, you’ve probably noticed Sutton Howard crushing workouts with her contagious energy and an impressive focus that’s got us all wondering—what’s in her protein shake?
Sutton is an upcoming junior at Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!), where she’s juggling a major in Strategic Communications with a focus in Sport Communication and dominating as a student-athlete on the track and field team. Talk about multitasking goals!
Before gracing enduraLAB with her talent, Sutton was no stranger to fitness. Growing up in a family packed with college athletes, being active was second nature. But her training at the LAB has taken things to a whole new, scientifically-backed level. According to Sutton, it’s all about knowing the “why” behind each workout and recovery session—turns out, there’s a method to our madness!
Speaking of game-changers, recovery has skyrocketed to the top of her priority list since joining the LAB. “Having the team push me to actually show up for recovery sessions has been huge,” Sutton says. So, if you’ve spotted her chilling in Normatec boots or braving the icy plunge with a grimace (but secretly loving it), now you know why.
If you ask Sutton what’s made the biggest impact on her progress, she immediately points to the coaching. “Lee, Isis, and the whole LAB team have genuinely made a huge difference,” she notes. “Not just in improving my performance—though let’s be real, that’s definitely happened—but also in supporting me personally.”
And the results speak for themselves! After redshirting her freshman year, Sutton took the collegiate scene by storm, traveling to every meet, scoring personal records in three consecutive outdoor events, and securing a coveted spot on the Big 12 conference meet roster. Not too shabby for her athletic “freshman” year!
Her current goals? Quickness and confidence—and with her tenacity, those targets don’t stand a chance.
Sutton also appreciates how the LAB’s environment mirrors collegiate athletics, emphasizing the impact of training alongside high-caliber, like-minded athletes. Her advice to newbies? “Buy into the knowledge. Soak up all the LAB goodness because there’s plenty to go around.”
If Sutton were to design a workout in her honor, she’d dub it “The Twister,” packed with rotational movements and heavy Olympic lifts—a nod to her prowess as a thrower. (We’re already wincing just thinking about it!)
When she’s not crushing goals, you’ll likely find her at Press Cafe or treating herself to a splurge at Curly’s with friends. Her ultimate recovery hack? Protein, Normatec boots, and, yes, she’s “working on loving” those icy plunges.
As for motivation, nothing beats blasting “Eye of the Tiger,” a nostalgic throwback her mom used to crank up before soccer games. We can already hear the motivational montage in the background…
Currently, she’s diving into podcasts like Sadie Robertson’s “WOAH that’s good” and “Within Her Soul” by Sydney Rhodes and Jordan Vesper, keeping her mindset as sharp as her athletic skills.
Sutton’s final wisdom to share with the LAB family? “Take advantage of everything enduraLAB offers—it’s way more than just workouts and recovery tools.”
Couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Sutton! Keep inspiring us—we can’t wait to see what’s next.
