2019 enduraLAB Memorial Day Murph

The Murph workout was created in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005. This workout was based on one of Mike's favorites, Body Armor. We will honor a focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.

1-Mile Run

100x Pull Up

200x Push Up

300x Air Squat

1-Mile Run

*Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.

WORKOUT WAVES:

Wave #1 @ 8:00 AM: This is for those of you who want to take the full challenge and complete the full workout (no modifications) with or without a 20-pound vest or body armor.

Wave #2 @ 9:30 AM : Complete the workout unweighted. You can modify the pull ups with jumping pull ups or bands, push ups by box push ups.

Wave #3 @ 10:30 AM: You and up to 3 of your friends complete the workout unweighted. You'll start and end the workout with a 400-meter relay and divide the push ups, pull ups and air squats as needed.

Wave #4 @10:30 AM: Mini-Murph event. Kids ages 5-14 are invited to participate in this scaled event.

  • Kids ages 5-9: 400-meter run, 25 Pull-ups, 50 Push-ups, 75 Squats and 400 meter run

  • Kids ages 10-14: 800-meter run, 25 Pull-ups, 50 Push-ups, 75 Squats and 800 meter run

USAW Level 1 Coaches Course

USA Weightlifting Level 1

Course Description: In this two-day course, participants will gain practical information from top-level coaches about weightlifting technique, assessing movement, motor learning, biomechanics, effective coaching, and programming training. In addition to covering scientifically based concepts to optimize training and skill learning, a large portion of the course will be hands-on teaching and application of the complete technical progressions of the snatch, clean and jerk, and assistance lifts. Learn highly effective coaching tips and cues from our veteran weightlifting coaches, who will help you safely and effectively implement Olympic lifting movements in training weightlifters, clients, and athletes of all ages and abilities. This course balances hands-on learning, in-depth discussions of technical progressions, and science-based programming information. Gain access to proven training plans to get your athletes or clients started with Olympic lifting and enjoy the support of USAW to help you further your knowledge about training and coaching athletes. At the end of the course, participants should feel comfortable understanding and implementing a training plan, teaching beginner and intermediate athletes how to perform weightlifting movements, quickly correcting common technique errors, and employing best practices in coaching. Whether you are looking to get started coaching weightlifting, refine your coaching skills, or apply the weightlifting movements to other sports, this course is a valuable investment in your career.

Course Materials:
Extensive course manual with videos of all exercise progressions, helpful resources, and sample weightlifting programming.

Prerequisites:
Other than an active USA Weightlifting membership, there are no prerequisites for this course. The course is open to anyone 17 or older, and no prior experience coaching or performing Olympic lifting is required.

CEUs/CECs:
This course has a total of 13 contact hours and is eligible for CEUs and CECs through a variety of professional organizations. For exact reporting requirements, please see our FAQs here

Day 1: 8:00am-5:00pm, and Day 2: 8:00am to 2:00pm

All course participants must be current USAW members.

Registration costs are non-refundable. In the rare event a course is cancelled, USA Weightlifting is not responsible for any pre-paid expenses incurred by participant. A refund or transfer to another offering is available under this circumstance.

You’ve likely seen Coach Roman working with a Steel Mace between personal training sessions and thought, man that guy is a badass. You might also be wondering, what exactly are the benefits of using this unconventional strength tool?

The Steel Mace is a very effective method to train and condition your whole body while mimicking real world movement. Learn the history of the Steel Mace, technique, safety, and huge benefits of Steel Mace training with Coach Roman at 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 4. During this one-hour session, you can expect to learn the four basic movements of the Steel Mace including the squat, hinge, push and pull. This will be an active clinic, so come ready to move. The clinic will last approximately one-hour and is free to Premium Members. The cost is $15 for non-premium members.

Pull Up Clinic w/ Coach Chris

Join Coach Chris for a Pull Up Progression Clinic at 8:00 AM on Saturday, April 27. This clinic is open to all skill levels, whether you can jump on the bar and knock out 15-20 pull ups or can’t find enough bands to get you through the workout on the board.

Participants will learn the techniques and drills needed to master strict pull ups without the use of bands. The course will cover mobility, proper form and safe kipping practices. You’ll also leave with a plan on how to continue to improve on your own. If time allows, advanced athletes will be led through the proper muscle up technique.

The cost of the clinic is free to Premium Members and $15 for all others.

Indoor Rowing Clinic w/ Coach Lee

Rowing is one of the top low-impact calorie burning exercises of all time. Utilizing over 80% of the body's musculature, a 60-minute session can easily burn 400-800 calories. However, mastering the rowing machine properly requires a bit of a learning curve. Don't you think it's time to discover the power of the erg?

Elements covered in the clinic include:

  • Proper technique and drills for optimal rowing performance.

  • Using the rowing/skiing machine to reach peak performance faster.

The clinic is scheduled for one hour and includes lecture, individualized coaching on your rowing technique, workouts and skills drills you can utilize to help you reach your goals. Participants will need to dress in athletic clothing appropriate for the workout.

Cost: Free for enduraLAB Premium Members. All others are $15/person

  • Clean Deadlift - Set up / Proper start position for the clean

Funkytown Throwdown

The FunkyTown Throwdown hosted by the BlueWave Weightlifting Club at enduraLAB is back for round three! As the largest weightlifting meet held in Fort Worth, this meet brings together local weightlifting clubs from all over North Texas.

As a USAW sanctioned meet, this meet will abide by all technical and competition rules detailed by IWF. Athlete must be a USAW member in good standing at the time of registration. We warmly welcome all athletes to come out and compete - youth, junior, open, and masters.

This meet will give you the opportunity to qualify for the 2019 National Championships, 2019 Youth Nationals, 2019 American Open Series 2, 2019 American Open Series 3, and 2019 American Open Finals.

enduraLAB + Martin House Beer Olympics

Let the games begin! This is a competition for everybody! Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 16, for our second annual enduraLAB / Martin House Beer Olympics! The event kicks off at 3:00 PM, and will include the following games:

  • Beer Mile

  • Grain Bag Shuttle

  • Barrel Carry 

  • Keg toss

We will have a prizes for the top male and female contestants in each event plus special prizes for overall grand prize winners. 

Tickets are $10 if you'd like to participate in the Beer Olympics. That will cover your entry for each game as well as the beer consumed during the beer mile. Tickets are $20 if you'd like to participate in the Beer Olympics and includes a Martin House Brewing pint glass and 4 house beers. You can buy your event T-Shirt separately for $20 online or at the front desk through March 1 at 5:30 PM. 

This event is open to the public. So even if you aren't participating, you can still come out to the brewery at 1:00 PM, pay the $10 for your 4 beers and enjoy the show. You can purchase that ticket online or pay at the door.

Martin House will be open until 10:00 PM. The Beer Olympics will kick off promptly at 3:00 PM and last approximately an hour.

6-Week Power Cycle

The 6-Week Power Cycle is designed to build speed upon your new foundation of strength. We are asking that you keep coming into the LAB 5-10 minutes before the workout to knock out your cardio. Tuesday/Thursday workouts will be the same for all group classes. Here is what you can expect each week:

  • Monday: Power Clean/Deadlift

  • Tuesday: Upper Body Strength Endurance

  • Wednesday: Strength + Speed Focus

  • Thursday: Cardiovascular Focus

  • Friday: Power Snatch + Lower Body Strength Endurance
