Hometown. Charleston, South Carolina.
Degree. I’m on track to complete my Bachelor’s of Science in Physics in May 2020 at the University of North Texas in Denton. From there, I plan to study Osteopathic Medicine at UNTHSC.
My interest in massage therapy came after a hip injury my senior year in high school. Due to a lack of resources at the school, I researched and learned how to rehabilitate my own injury. At that point, I was hooked. I enrolled and studied at the Southeastern Institute in South Carolina, and quickly learned that the clinical neuromuscular side of massage can really help patients recover from physical injuries. I am certified in advanced Myoskeletal Alignment, clinical orthopedic manual therapy and sports massage therapy.
How did you come across the LAB. I know Laura-Lisa through my mentor Benny Vaughn at the Benny Vaughn Athletic Therapy Center. When she heard that enduraLAB was looking for a second qualified massage therapist, she reached out to me and it’s a great fit.
Inspiration. Of course, my mentor Benny is a great inspiration. My friend Dr. Jay Roop, DO, who practices Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine in Southlake. I’m also in awe of Diamond Ott of the U.S. Army, also known as the strongest soldier in the world! Most importantly, I’m continually inspired by the clients I work with, I learn the most from their determination.
Favorite charity / volunteer organization. I am very involved with my church. I work closely with a program called Life Unlimited Food Ministry, an outreach program that is all about reaching out to communities and giving back to those in need with food and personal items.
Favorite workout. I enjoy a functional workout that provides a mix of activities from bodybuilding, Olympic weightlifting, calisthenics, gymnastics and bodyweight movements. I also really enjoy Martial Arts. I always need a challenge during a workout, and I like to keep things varied so I don’t get bored.
Netflix binge. I really enjoy watching business shows: Shark Tank and The Profit. I also like medical shows including Royal Pains, The Good Doctor, and I’ve recently started watching House.
Best restaurant. The 16 Oz. Ribeye at Hard Eight BBQ.
Bucket list. I would like to earn my private pilot license and attend professional driving school.
What else would you like us to know? I enjoy the outdoors and wrestling with my son and helping my daughter with her gymnastics, when she’ll let me.
