Meet Kathe Chou, January Member of the Month

Meet Kathe Chou, a dedicated athlete whose journey to enduraLAB was guided by good friends and an unwavering commitment to her fitness. Discover how she bounced back from post-pregnancy setbacks, achieved impressive fitness milestones, and fell in love with running again, all while balancing her career as a family practice physician.

What brought you to enduraLAB?

Joe Chou and Chelsea Bran. Good people vetting good gyms.

What did your workout routine look like before joining the LAB?

Was at a good gym prior with good strength training programming, but then stopped working out for a good 3 months after having a baby. Got back in to rock climbing too early and injured my shoulder. So lots of rehab. Then joined the lab and was able to modify the workouts until my shoulder got stronger!

What healthy changes have you made since joining the LAB?

I got back in to running again! Having actual programming and running with intention has made all the difference as far as really truly enjoying running. And seeing progress as far as getting faster is fun too.

Tell us what you do outside of the LAB?

I’m a family practice physician who, luckily, has a practice that is able to deep dive in to all the things that should be explored if someone wants to not just live longer, but healthier. Being able to practice what I preach is key, and Enduralab has definitely made that possible for me.

How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB?

Um, never have I ever been able to do a strict pull up. Not even in high school!! So now I can. :)

Brag a little. What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months?

Next step, let’s string some together and maybe be able to do 10 strict pull ups in a row? Currently at 1.

What is your favorite enduraLAB event or program?

Love all the races that we do together. Builds camaraderie for sure.

What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB?

“Trust the process”. But also listen to your body and modify if needed. Workouts are challenging and adjust to where it’s hard for you. That’s how you become stronger.

If we had a workout in honor of you, what would it be called and what would it consist of?

“The basics”. Running and deadlifts. I love some deadlifts.

Any final words or thoughts?

Community. Progress. Recovery. Nutrition. Testing. This gym kind of has it all. And damn good at what they do. So happy to be part of it now. :)
