What brought you to enduraLAB? I started at enduraLAB to help me train for the Cowtown Half Marathon…It was before enduraLAB had a physical space! I loved Coach Lee's approach to training and I enjoyed having a community of runners to train with. Since then I've really enjoyed the strength and conditioning classes.
What did your workout routine look like before joining the LAB? Before joining the LAB, I was running on my own and occasionally strength training.
What healthy changes have you made since joining the LAB? I've made lots of changes; thanks to enduraLAB I've tried different ways of eating. Plus, I've learned the importance of recovery and mobility.
Tell us what you do outside of the LAB? I'm a food blogger at Eat This Fort Worth and food writer for various publications. In 2019 I founded Eat This Fort Worth Food Tours and I take locals and visitors on unique and fun eating experiences. I'm a huge live music fan and am lucky enough to be the Marketing Manager at Tulips, a new live music venue in the Near Southside, in addition to providing graphic design and digital marketing services to small businesses. I'm on the advisory board of the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival and am a board member at Amphibian Stage Productions.
How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? Brag a little. I've gotten so much stronger!! I got complimented on my arm muscles the other day - Yay!
What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months? My goal is consistency and increasing my PR's. Now that it has started to cool off I'll be rucking more to increase my endurance.
What is your favorite enduraLAB event or program? The Ruck Club
What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB? As the sign on the wall says, "Focus on the process, not the outcome"
Favorite cheat meal/restaurant in D/FW? So many places! Brix BBQ, Zoli's Pizza, The Modern Cafe, Grace, Melt Ice creams, Taco Heads and Emporium Pies are just a few of my favorites.
Current read / podcast? Current Read is Radical Alignment. Current podcast: No Dogs in Space and my favorite local podcast is Tony and Henry: On the Same page.
Pump up song? Pretty much anything by the Black Keys and old school hip-hop
Any final words or thoughts? It's been a fun journey to be a member of enduraLAB. I love the thoughtfulness that goes into the programming and I know that as long as I do the work and show up I'm going to get a great workout! I've met some great folks here as well and pride myself on being part of the enduraLAB family!
