Meet David Tovar, October Member of the Month

One of the first things that David did upon moving to Fort Worth was join enduraLAB! What better way to tap into our great community? Coincidently, his favorite events are the enduraLAB Happy Hours. He won't brag on himself but we think he is pretty awesome.

What brought you to enduraLAB?

I came to EnduraLAB looking for a coach led, group exercise type of workout that incorporated strength and conditioning in a HIIT type/format. I had just moved to Fort Worth, and after a couple of weeks of using the "I'm still in the 'moving in' process" excuse, I called to schedule a free drop-in workout.

What did your workout routine look like before joining the LAB?

Before joining the LAB, I was attempting to do HIIT workouts, solo-dolo, using kettlebells and dumbbells.

What healthy changes have you made since joining the LAB?

Since joining, I've tried to be more mindful about 'rest and recovery' as well as 'nutrition'. It's a daily struggle, and the struggle is real.

Tell us what you do outside of the LAB?

If you catch me outside, I'm probably walking/exercising my dog, working with a client, eating/drinking with friends, trying to hit and find a little white ball, or attempting to stay active in other sorts of ways. 

How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? Brag a little.

Loaded question.. But I think most athletes do the simplest things very well. The simplest thing I can do, is to just show up for class. So, I hope I can continue keeping up with that consistency.

What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months?

In the next 6 months, I would like to be more mindful of my body's recovery and mobility.

What is your favorite enduraLAB event or program?

Gym Happy Hours!

What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB?

If you're not as experienced or comfortable doing box jumps or step ups, use the foam box. Otherwise, you will hurt, and your shins will look like mine.
