Meet Coltin Gerhart, April Member of the Month

It is no coincidence that Coltin is our member of the month leading up to the Muprh workout. His first workout at the LAB was the Murph event in 2021. Coltin is a former collegiate athlete and current medical student at TCU. His goals are to increase his strength and endurance - is he not at the perfect place to do so?

What brought you to enduraLAB?

I joined enduraLAB after completing The Murph with some of my classmates here last May. I enjoyed the comradery of the gym and I was looking for something more competitive with a strong community that pushes each other. I found myself needing a class-based style workout because after college sports it was really difficult for me to want to do any sort of cardio, unless it was built into the workout. EnduraLAB was a perfect fit for what I was looking for and I have loved it ever since.

What did your workout routine look like before joining the LAB?

I used to work out in the mornings with some friends at TCU recreation center, it was a much slower-paced workout with minimal cardio. No cardio + donut Friday’s = Bad Idea.

What healthy changes have you made since joining the LAB?

My wife and I started eating much healthier when COVID lockdowns came around. Since then, we have been pretty consistent with our workouts and making smarter choices by eating less calorie-dense foods. I’ve focused on higher protein intake since joining the LAB.

Tell us what you do outside of the LAB?

I’m currently in medical school at TCU School of Medicine. I’m in various hospitals all over DFW, so I’m coming to LAB directly from there. Things I enjoy outside of the gym include hanging out with my wife, fly-fishing, golfing, and making cocktails.

How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? Brag a little.

Playing college football and baseball built my endurance (or lack thereof) for very short bursts and higher impact scenarios. Since joining the gym, my endurance has grown significantly, I can run longer than 100 yards without needing oxygen and my flexibility has greatly improved. I genuinely feel much healthier with fewer aches and pains and more fluid than ever before.

What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months?

Continue to improve my endurance and strength.

What is your favorite enduraLAB event or program?

The Murph

What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB?

Introduce yourself to others and get to know people in the community. It’s full of wonderful and diverse people!

If we had a workout in honor of you, what would it be called and what would it consist of?

“Swoljahboitellem” hahaha! That’s been my Instagram since high school and a running joke.

I would do a bunch of exercises that I enjoy. A combination of pull-ups, push-ups, and 100 yard sprints.

Favorite treat meal/restaurant in D/FW?

I love getting ice-cream from Melt or Curly’s.

Current read / podcast? Pump up song?

I really enjoy Malcolm Gladwell books.

Pump Up Song- Put On by Jeezy/Kanye West.

Any final words or thoughts?

Feel free to say Hi or introduce yourself I love meeting new people! :)
