What brought you to enduraLAB? I was ready to find a good program to help me move without getting hurt and lose some weight.  Patrick Shropshire is a good friend and I had been talking to him and knew he really enjoyed the LAB.  I knew a few other people working out here as well and I decided to get started last November / December.

What did your workout routine look like before joining the LAB? Honestly, I didn’t have a regular routine so let’s just say I was starting from scratch.

What healthy changes have you made since joining the LAB?  I think just moving regularly has been the biggest change and benefit for me.  I find myself stretching in my office during the day.  I’m eating better overall and I don’t reach for cookies or sweets like I used to.

Tell us what you do outside of the LAB? I enjoy family time with my wife and two kids.  I like to play golf and watch sports (especially my kids’ games).  I’ve been the CFO at Yost Capital Management since 2010.

How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? Brag a little. I did my first Murph back in May.  I scaled it but it was a big accomplishment for me.

Prior to joining the LAB, I would have never thought to wake up on a Sunday morning and start a 10 mile ruck at 6am (and then finish under 3 hours like we did the other day).

What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months? My nearest goal is to complete the 26 mile ruck in Dallas in October.  After that, I’m going to work on pull ups.

What is your favorite enduraLAB event or program? Tough to choose one.  I really enjoyed my first Murph back in May and the ruck workouts are great.  I’m a new rucker but love the workouts, being outside and enjoy the social aspect you get with it as well.

What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB? Don’t be intimidated or afraid to ask questions.  The coaches are really good at helping you with the movements.

Just show up.  Focus on the process and you’ll see results and improvement.

Stretch.

Don’t look at the scale every day.  You’ll notice and feel the improvement.

Favorite cheat meal/restaurant in D/FW? My kids make the best chocolate shakes.  We don’t have them as often as we used to but dang they are good.

I’ll never turn down a plate of nachos with a Modelo, salt and lime.

Current read / podcast? Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek is currently at the top of the stack of 20 books next to my desk.

Embrace the Suck: The Navy Seal Way to an Extraordinary Life – I stumbled across this on Amazon the other day and pre-ordered it.  It’s due out in December.

Pump up song? I listen to a lot of Jimmy Buffett but that’s not really pump up music.  When I’m working out on my own, Mellencamp tends to be playing.

Any final words or thoughts? I have a lot of work to do but I honestly feel as good physically and mentally as I have in a long time.  Thanks to all the coaches for doing what you do and all of the support at the LAB.
