What brought you to enduraLAB? I came to enduraLAB in May of 2018 to train for the NYC Marathon. My mom had been coming for years and had done all her marathon training at EL and said that training there I was going to be able to maximize my training and not feel awful after. I went mostly to the run classes the first year, and after the shut down I’ve been coming to the strength classes every day.

What did your workout routine look like before joining the LAB? Before I came to enduraLAB I would usually just run. I didn’t do any strength training, and now I definitely see the benefits of strength training in my workouts now.

What healthy changes have you made since joining the LAB? Since coming to the LAB, I have been more consistent about working out. I have signed up for events that force me to workout on a daily basis. I also have done nutrition programming with Isis and now am much more aware about what I eat and fuel my body.

Tell us what you do outside of the LAB? I work at Worthington National Bank as a credit analyst.

How have you grown as an athlete since joining the LAB? Brag a little. Ever since coming to enduraLAB I have improved my running and strength significantly. I have run my fastest mile time and can lift more than I ever thought. I see the benefits of including strength workouts and have really seen the improvements after I started coming to the strength classes on a daily basis. They are something I look forward to everyday. Even though they are hard it feels great getting through them and being able to see how you’ve progressed.

What is a goal you have set for yourself in the next 6 months? If we can start having races again I would love to run a sub 4 hour marathon. I think I am much more dedicated than I was a year ago to my training and think I could do it with enduraLAB’s help and programming. I also think that Isis and her nutrition are extremely helpful for this. After having her help me with my nutrition I am much more mindful of what I eat and how it fuels my body.

What is your favorite enduraLAB event or program? I really enjoy the run program. The workouts that Lee and Elizabeth put together really help you overall in your running ability. Before I came to the classes, I wouldn’t think about my runs. Now I think about my breathing, heart rate, and form which helps me be more efficient and faster. Sometimes it is hard to slow down and focus on my heart rate for a whole hour, but I know there is a method to their madness.

What advice would you have for a new person starting at enduraLAB? Jump in and be consistent. Even though you may not think you can do all the movements and don’t want to go, just being able to show up is the biggest battle you will face. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and are always willing to help you figure out what the best weight is or another alternative exercise for you to do. Everyone is extremely encouraging and wants you to succeed.

Favorite cheat meal/restaurant in D/FW? I love a good burger or steak! You can’t go wrong with a burger from Kincaid’s or a steak from Eddie V’s.
